Space Squid, a most excellently titled sci-fi journal, has gone beyond what the kids are calling old-school and printed a recent issue on clay tablets. This bold move got them noticed and written about in Wired. Space Squid's issue burst with the silly and the strange, bigfoot, aliens, zombies and the like. The digital pdf version of their magazine offers lots more content than the ten commandment style ones, so it's all a matter of preference. Enjoy either way.
Rogue Disney executives, hackers, toast-making robots, 3D printers, and interactive rides on abadoned Wal-Marts. Intrigued yet? Cory Doctorow's new novel Makers has all this and more. A frequent activist for copyright issues, Doctorow has been nominated for most of the sci-fi awards.
The buzz on the web is that Makers is Doctorow's best work yet. The novel is available free on the author's website, as a Creative Commons download.
